June returns with a second release on his homonymous label with "Don't Be Seen With Me EP" This collection of pieces is characterized by an 80s aesthetic approach with proto-house elements, wavy synth lines and a general interstellar atmosphere. They do however, cut it on a modern day dancefloor / soundsystem. "Face This (Deep House Mix)" kicks things off and has the classic ‘h-h-h-house’ vocal sample repeating through a retroist bassline and Chicago-esque drum machine use. Arrangement-wise the track is great, moving through some great sections with varying dynamics. The middle bit when the pads and acid lead lines converge on the track is really quite special. "Don't Be Seen With Me" plunges further back into time to the early days of space-synth exploration - proper cosmic Italo vibes explored on this one - if you liked the Milkways reissue recently (or anything on Ambassador's Reception for that matter), then this one's definitely for you! "Space Exotica" closes with some proper house business (or proto-house I guess I sould say). Chugging, thumping and with an incessant lead line, this is sure to get the strobe lights and lasers causing absolute chaos on the dancefloor - absolutely huge! Worth the money for the last track alone! Recommended.
