Following up from Soul Clap's classy, sassy and shake your assy mix cd compiled from Nice 'N' Ripe's enviable back catelogue, they dish up a four track sampler on yellow vinyl. The US duo kick things off with their "Nice 'N' Ruff Edit) of Grant Nelson's "In My Soul", reworking and extending the original into a peak tempo house groover with shuffling drums, ever changing arrangements and the vocal chops that became a trademark of UKG. Jazzy, smooth and swinging this'll do the trick nicely on even the most statuesque dancefloors. Up next is a bonefide garage classic in the form of 24 Hour Experience's "Together", which was a massive anthem back in the day and is still better than 90% of the music coming out. Soulful vocals ride a double bass groove with rhodes vamps added in just for fun. This is must have I'm afraid, so don't miss out again! On the flip is Soul Clap's edit of Planet Detroit's "Find The Way", which sets out by enhancing the techier elements of the original, before breaking down into smooth and funky jazz house which'll have you smiling ear to ear. Sherwood's "My Slave" closes the EP in deep, dark and techy form. Originally way ahead of its time in 1996, this could easily pass for any of the bass heavy tech house records released over the past couple of years. The spirit of Kraftwerk looms in the pinched melody ("Home Computer") and the ghostly vocals are perfectly suited for a dancefloor K hole. Don't sleep on this master blaster of a 12"!
