Having previously impressed via singles on Argot and W.T Records, Pittsburgh-based nu-disco/deep house fusionist Chase Smith pops up on The Harmony Society. The four tracks that make up Falling Out offer a good summary of his style, variously touching on dewy-eyed deep house, Metro Area-ish electronic dub disco and wonky, out-there acid. Opener "Falling Out" sounds like something the Idjut Boys might play; a pleasing fusion of Norwegian Scandolearica and Kerrier District with definite dub influences. The bouncy pianos and rubbery synths on "Still Further" act as an excellent counterpoint for the track's wonky acid leanings, while "Vaporub" is an excellent example of Gleen Underground style seep house with nu-disco electronics.
