Although Ken Gill will be a new name to most, he's apparently a long-standing friend of Larry Heard. The latter lends a hand - along with Alleviated pal Badie - on the opening track of this debut EP. You can tell, too, as "Love Moon" feels like a classic Heard production - all delay-laden vocals, undulating Chicago bass, sparse beats and cosseting chords. Elsewhere Gill goes solo, delivering stripped-back Chi-town funk (the drum machine dominated "Just a Test"), sinewy dub house ("Idol Mind", which is driven by a thickset, sub-bothering bassline) and lazy deep house-jack (the organ-laden "Jack Wit Honey").
