Welcome vinyl reissue for percussionist Michael Shrieve’s acclaimed Cosmic masterpiece ‘Transfer Station Blue’. A supremely talented drummer who worked with Santana on their first eight albums, Shrieve joined forces with German electronic legend Klaus Schulze to produce this dazzling experimental odyssey in 1984. The 12 minute long title cut is the most sought-after by the Cosmic cognoscenti - an infectiously nasty space funk groove that was one of the standouts of Harvey’s famous Sarcastic mix but the rest of the album is fantastic too including the compelling hypnotic drum/synth dreamscape ‘Communique: “Approach Spiral”, the blissful guitar and synth fusion of ‘View From the Window’ and ‘Nucleotide’, a more wild and experimental atmospheric piece. Superb release.
